A hotel brings many people's everyday lives together. That also means taking responsibility for the resources we use and the environments we are part of. At GCCH, we want to develop hotels that stand the test of time — through long-term environmental work, reuse wherever possible and tree planting linked to our guests' stays.
Certified properties
A shared foundation. At every hotel.
All GCCH properties are environmentally certified through Green Key or Miljödiplomering. These certifications provide a structure for our environmental work and support systematic improvements.
Green Key
Green Key is an international environmental label for hotels and other accommodation. Its criteria cover areas including energy, water, waste and day-to-day environmental management — all important aspects of running a hotel.
Miljödiplomering provides a framework for organising environmental work, identifying a business's environmental impact and making improvements. It helps make environmental responsibility part of everyday operations rather than a separate project.
Since 2022, we have planted one food-producing tree for every 100 guest nights across GCCH. This connects a concrete commitment to our operations: as we welcome guests, we also give something new the opportunity to grow.

Our commitment since 2022
Tree planting complements the environmental work at our hotels — it does not replace efforts to reduce our own environmental impact.
Reuse & resources
Sometimes the best new thing is what we already have.
When developing our hotels, we start not by asking what needs replacing, but what can be kept. We always work with reuse wherever possible. Furniture, interiors and materials that still serve their purpose should not become waste simply because a space is changing.
Caring for, repairing and finding a new place for existing items are part of our long-term approach. Sometimes the best solution is to keep something just as it is. Sometimes it can find a new life in another room or setting — with consideration for function, quality and the guest experience.
For us, development does not mean everything has to be new. It means making thoughtful choices and creating welcoming hotel environments with respect for the resources already available.
